Classroom Instruction & Practice
Before you can become you horse’s teacher, you yourself
must know the lesson backwards and forwards.
In the classroom, you will learn the principles we’ll be
applying and then master the steps in the lesson plan. You’ll learn what to
do in a multitude of situations and what to expect from your student. Then,
you’ll apply your knowledge with hands-on practice in a supportive learning
environment.
What You Need to
Bring
For You
The two most important things to bring with you
to the workshop are a positive attitude and a desire to learn! In addition,
you may want to bring a small cooler with drinks and snacks, sunscreen, a hat,
lip balm and rain gear, just in case!
For Your Horse
All horses must have proof of a current negative Coggins
test and health papers.
Your horse will be kept in either a small pasture, 60’
corral or 12x12 portable box stall, depending on your needs and availability.
Bring feed and water buckets, your own hay and grain, fly spray, and grooming
supplies.
For this workshop, protective boots for all four legs
including four bell boots are required for your horse’s protection.
If you do not have these items, please contact me as I have several extra pair
I can set aside for you to use.
For training equipment, you’ll need:
- A sturdy bridle without a noseband
- A full cheek snaffle bit
- 10 ft cotton rope reins
- Lariat (cotton recommended)
